Forbo's Marmoleum is a natural linoleum made from linseed oil, rosins, and wood flour on a natural jute backing (the backing for standard commercial tile is synthetic polyester). Marmoleum has no adverse health effects during production, useful life, or disposal. Further, it is installed with solvent- free adhesives, which emit no harmful VOCs.
If your objective is to create a dust and allergin-free environment, Marmoleum is the natural choice. Its anti-static properties make the floor easier to clean in that dust and dirt will not easily adhere. Furthermore, the continual oxidation of the linseed oil provides a bactericidal effect micro-organisms, including Salmonella Typhimurium and Staphylococcus Aureus, are unable to multiply on its surface. Marmoleum is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and childrens rooms.
